Contribute audio

The ATL Sound Map is a relatively new project and will be changing much over the next bit of time. You can help in its growth by contributing audio. Here’s how to do it (until we create a better system):

  1. Record a segment of audio from any location within the Atlanta Metro area.
  2. Take a photo of where you were when you recorded the audio.
  3. Document where you were when you recorded the audio. An address, cross street, or business name and city will work, but GPS coordinates are what we ultimately need so they are preferred. GPS information can be found in the metadata of photos taken with mobile phones. Learn how to do so here.
  4. Create an account on Soundcloud (if you don’t already have one) and upload your audio file there.
  5. Include the photo you took as the image for the upload.
  6. Fill in all of the information as you see fit, but make sure to include location information (ideally GPS coordinates) in the description for the audio.
  7. BUT MAKE SURE TO ADD A TAG FOR #ATLSOUNDMAP
  8. We will periodically search for new audio tagged with with the #atlsoundmap tag and integrate them into the site.
